    • Swedish Gaming Authority

      The Swedish Gaming Authority, Spelinspektionen, is the authority that ensures customer’s safety on the ever-growing Swedish gambling market. This authority has had several different names but did decide on Spelinspektionen as of 2019 when it got a more holistic approach to gaming and the gambling market. The authority is now tasked to ensure that lotteries, casino games and all other gambling related operations in Sweden are practiced in a lawful matter. From January 1st, 2019, the Swedish market is a regulated market, this means that the supply and demand is controlled by the government through regulations that include oversight, taxation etc.

    • Portuguese Gambling License

      The approval on April 29 of Decree-Law 66/2015 signifies the Portuguese government’s acceptance of the Online Gambling and Betting Legal Regime (OLR). This decree-law lays down the terms and conditions of the practice and operation of online betting and games of chance in the country. The decree-law has been in effect since 28 June 2015 and the first licence for online gambling was issued in summer 2016.

    • Spanish Gambling License

      The introduction of the Spanish Gambling Act in 2011 fundamentally changed the Spanish betting, online casino and mobile gaming landscape. According to this act, while the number of licenses that the DGOJ can grant is unlimited, the body is under an obligation to wait at least 18 months between each licensing tender; as such, essentially, only one license can be granted every 18 months.

      The MGA’s mission statement is taken directly from the Lotteries and Other Games Act, 2001, which states: “To regulate competently the various sectors of the gaming industry that fall under the Authority by ensuring gaming is fair and transparent to the players, preventing crime, corruption and money laundering and by protecting minor and vulnerable players.”

    • Italian Gambling License

      It was not until 2006 that the liberalisation of the Italian online casino and online gambling market began in earnest following a 2003 complaint. The case was formally investigated by the European Commission and infringement proceedings were officially launched against Italy. Gambling has a long and colourful history in Italy that can be traced back to the Roman Empire. The first known gambling house, “Ridotto,” was first opened in 1683 in Venice. The house operated with the government’s approval and was designed to make gambling official as a means of controlling the gambling behaviours of the citizens.

    • Gibraltar Gaming License

      Gibraltar first started issuing gambling licenses in 1998 and these licenses are currently managed by the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority (GRA). All gambling activities that take place in Gibraltar need to comply with the Gambling Act of 2005 (“the Act”) and the GRA issues all gambling and gaming licenses, including those for online- and telephone-based operations, in accordance with this act. The Gambling Commissioner, who is awarded responsibilities under the Act, is tasked with ensuring that all license holders manage their operations in compliance with the requirements of their licenses and act in a manner that upholds the integrity and reputation of Gibraltar.

    • Danish Gambling License

    • Belgian Gambling License

      While online gaming is and has been legal in Belgium since 2002, the introduction of the 2009 Gambling Act entailed that any companies that wish to operate an online gambling site in Belgium are required to first acquire a license. In addition, the servers on which the online gambling site operates must be located in Belgium. As such, to launch a gaming site in Belgium, operators must first partner with an existing land-based casino or open their own physical property.
