GIG Incorporated Set for Launch in New Zealand
The Gaming Innovation Group, or GiG for short, are a Malta-based B2B developer focusing on solutions for the gambling industry. They work with operators in several regulated markets all over the world and thanks to a new deal with SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited, they could be set to expand into another one: New Zealand.
GiG used an official press release to announce this recent deal and to comment on what it would mean for the companies involved. They will be working with SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited, a land-based casino firm operating in New Zealand, and will provide them with a host of gaming and management solutions, helping them to expand their offering with the launch of a New Zealand-facing online casino.
The partnership will also see GiG supply SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited with a gaming license and deal with all the regulatory issues that may arise. It’s a partnership that is set to provide a wealth of benefits to both parties while also increasing the available of online gambling in New Zealand.
A spokesperson for GiG called this a “landmark deal”, saying that by signing on the dotted line with SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited they are tapping into a “completely new continent” and building on their ambition to become the leading gaming operator worldwide.
A spokesperson for SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited echoed these thoughts, adding that the company was committed to growth and to providing a wealth of gaming options for players across New Zealand.
SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited
SkyCity is based in Auckland and operates four branded land-based casinos across the country, as well as two in neighboring Australia. It revealed its intention to launch an iGaming operation just a couple month ago, even though such operations are illegal in its home country of New Zealand.
The expectation, however, is that the New Zealand gambling market will soon change and open-up, allowing companies like SkyCity to operate legally and without issue. When that happens, SkyCity are focused on being “the leader in gaming, entertainment and hospitality” across New Zealand and Australia.
There’s a long road ahead of them before they can attain that goal, but they are certainly well positioned to do so and if the New Zealand gambling regulations do relax then it seems like an inevitability.
