Pragmatic Play content now available with Svenska Spel Sport and Casino
After its recent portfolio launch in the newly regulated Swedish market, market-leading content provider Pragmatic Play has launched its highly celebrated content with Svenska Spel Sport & Casino.
A subsidiary of Svenska Spel, Svenska Spel Sport & Casino can now provide its iGaming clients with online casino games for the first time. This development is thanks to the ratification of gaming legislation by the Swedish parliament on June 7, 2018. As of January 1, 2019, this legislation has provided the largest Scandinavian population with a newly regulated market.
Regulation
As one of the first license holders within the newly-regulated market, the state-owned operator received its permits on November 30, 2018. Issued by the regulator Lotteriinspektionen, these permits allow Svenska Spel to provide online gaming and sports betting from the turn of the New Year.
For over 20 years, Svenska Spel has had a monopoly over the Swedish betting market. However, its new license means that it is now unable to compete with its unlicensed counterparts in providing online casino and poker solutions.

Now, the portfolio of online games provided by the Malta-based firm is available to players in Sweden. This portfolio includes favourites Great Rhino and Da Vinci’s Treasure, as well as the highly-celebrated Wolf Gold.
According to Pragmatic’s Chief Commercial Officer Melissa Summerfield, the business is keen to maintain its 2018 commercial momentum and thrilled to be teaming up with a highly reputable operator within a regulated market.
Players in Sweden are, she said, known for their enjoyment of fun, enticing slot games and Pragmatic is pleased to supply Svenska Spel Sport & Casino with crowd-pleasing content.
Innovation and quality
According to Jonas Nygren, Head of Casino at Svenska Spel Sport & Casino, Pragmatic Play offers a collection of top-quality, inventive titles. The firm is, he said, thrilled to offer Pragmatic games to its players, and excited to enter into a positive, productive partnership with the provider.
During the last year, the company, which boasts offices in Gibraltar, Malta and the Philippines, has signed a number of significant business deals within regulated markets. The firm has been developing its reach and now has a broad network of operators, including Casino Barcelona, Scommesse Italia, Åland-based gaming operator Paf (Ålands Penningautomatförening) and Kindred Group.
In its most recent acquisition, the firm took control of virtual sports supplier VSoftCo. This move marked its second large corporate acquisition after the 2018 purchase of live casino provider Extreme Live Gaming from Novomatic.
As well as it’s ever-growing video slot portfolio, Pragmatic is set to launch some live casino products, including roulette, baccarat and blackjack, as well as a highly adaptable mobile-first bingo product. For all those interested, between February 5 and 7, Pragmatic will be found at ICE London 2019, on stand N8-120.
