How they performed in the last round
To know how we should place our bets we think it is important to look at how the teams performed in the round of 16. I think many of us where very pleasantly surprised by how both these teams played during the group stage but the round of 16 was a bit tougher than expected. Italy was for the first time playing without their 12th player – the home turf. The Italian national team played well but where lacking in their final touches, when Austria got that first cap in (later VAR deemed the goal correctly offside) it seemed like Italy where on their way out. Mancini made some good changes, and this changed the game.
Belgium was as previously said also very strong during the group stage, but they faced slightly easier opponents. Belgium’s toughest game was the emotional game against Denmark. They faced Portugal in the Round of 16, Portugal who had Cristiano Ronaldo, the record player and was coming back from an impressive game against the French. Despite this the Belgian Devils came up on top. Unfortunately, with two of their biggest stars Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne slightly injured.
